Job Summary
This role is part of the Actuarial function, which covers exposure, capital, pricing, and reserving under the Group Chief Actuary. You will assist the Cat Manager (within exposure management) in capturing and modelling Cat exposures. The position involves supporting the end-to-end Cat modelling process, including data capture, pre-underwriting catastrophe analytics, portfolio aggregation and monitoring, and internal reporting.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Cat Manager in the monthly roll-up process, including supporting the production of Cat exposure and modelling reports for all relevant peril regions.
- Contribute to projects that facilitate the internal cat modelling workflows.
- Develop a strong knowledge of Cat modelling methodologies, Verisk models, and modelling results.
- Assist in capturing risks in the Cat model, particularly during periods where the Amman office is not available.
- Support the wider Exposure team (based in Amman) in modelling catastrophe exposures and understanding modelled loss estimates.
- Clearly communicate insights, findings, and recommendations to various stakeholders.
- Maintain and enhance the Cat exposure modelling process.
- Support the delivery of event response reports to the business.
- Become familiar with Verisk database data and learn to write SQL scripts.
Key Attributes & Professional Qualifications
Essential
- A degree in Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in insurance and natural hazards.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret exposure and loss metrics.
- Familiarity with insurance and reinsurance terminology.
- Eagerness to learn through observation and discussion.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid foundation in mathematics, probability, and statistical analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, with strong skills in Excel.

Desirable
- Experience with SQL and data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., R, Python, VBA).
- Proficiency in Verisk Touchstone.
- Knowledge of Cat modelling methodologies.
