About the Role
Are you a commercially minded Category Manager who loves turning data and insight into action?
We’re looking for a Category Manager to join us for a 12-month fixed-term contract.
You’ll play a key role within our Commercial team, using sales, shopper and consumer data to uncover meaningful insights and translate them into clear, compelling recommendations. With responsibility across the pastry, dough and pancakes categories, you’ll work closely with our retail partners and internal teams to help shape category strategy, unlock new opportunities and support our ambitious growth plans.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Category or Insights professional who enjoys combining data, commercial thinking and storytelling to make a real difference.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Use a range of sales, shopper and consumer data to strengthen BakeAway’s understanding of category trends, performance and key growth drivers.
- Build and maintain strong category relationships with key retailer partners, providing actionable recommendations to unlock growth across pastry, dough and pancakes.
- Partner with the Commercial team to turn insight into opportunity — helping identify ways to win new listings, increase distribution and grow existing retail accounts.
- Support the launch of new product innovation, including opportunity sizing, category assumptions, sell-in stories and post-launch evaluation.
- Develop and maintain effective reporting tools to track brand and category performance and make insight easily accessible across the business.
- Manage and advise on the Category and Insight budget, ensuring investment is focused on the areas that deliver the greatest value.
- Bring the voice of the shopper and consumer into commercial decision-making and help ensure our plans are grounded in robust insight.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
