What you’ll be doing

Responsibilities

As a Category Assistant you' work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment working cross-functionally with world-renowned brands. Reporting to the Consumables and General Merchandise Category Manager for Ireland, you will work closely with the Irish and UK Trading team to deliver the business priorities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Assistant Category Managers and Category Manager in delivery of the annual budget.
  • Support with sales plan for the category and customer journey specific to promotions.
  • Store support by way of exceptional communication and problem-solving.
  • Working with other teams such as Marketing & Pricing to ensure set ups are right first time.
  • Building relationships with your UK counterparts to support in cascade of UK-led plan.
  • Seeking out opportunities locally in Ireland and landing NPD ahead of the Irish market.
  • Confirm promotional funding with suppliers ensuring this is logged correctly on a tracker so it can be invoiced.
  • Occasional travel to Ireland.

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)

  • Strong organisational skills, you will be supporting the relationships with many big brands, across several subcategories.
  • Strong Office Skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Exceptional communication skills, you will be working cross-functionally and supporting stores where accuracy is key and with a “right first time” mentality.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to delve into reporting requirements.

It would be great if you also have

  • Familiarity with category management principles
  • Experience using data analysis tools
  • A creative mindset to contribute to innovative solutions
