At Victrex, our Procurement team plays a vital role in keeping our global business moving. As Category Buyer, you’ll help manage the purchasing of products and services that support our manufacturing operations, working with suppliers and stakeholders to deliver value, reduce risk and ensure business-critical requirements are met on time.
This is a great opportunity for someone with procurement or supply chain experience who enjoys solving problems, building relationships and making decisions in a fast-moving environment. You’ll be close to the action, supporting a portfolio that contributes to up to £150m of global spend and helping deliver the savings, resilience and supplier performance our business depends on.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing a portfolio of suppliers and developing a strong understanding of the products, services and market factors that influence supply.
- Secure best value for Victrex through sourcing activity and leading RFI, RFQ and RFP processes
- Building collaborative supplier relationships, monitoring performance and driving improvement.
- Supporting order placement, expediting and issue resolution to help meet targets and avoid critical stock outs or failed services.
- Identifying risks, escalating and helping to protect continuity of supply.
- Interpreting and negotiating contract terms, highlighting gaps or risks and maintaining accurate contract information.
- Developing excellent internal relationships with stakeholders and working collaboratively to understand requirements and deliver timely, commercially sound solutions.
- Driving cost reduction initiatives and achieving procurement savings targets.
What you’ll bring
- Good working knowledge of procurement or supply chain processes and procedures, with previous experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain, with exposure to supplier management.
- Confidence working directly with suppliers and internal stakeholders, with the ability to influence, challenge and build strong working relationships.
- A proactive, analytical approach, with the ability to interpret spend data, market information and operational priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to identifying and resolving problems.
- The ability to prioritise, make decisions and respond quickly to changing business needs.
- CIPS or MCIPS qualified, or working towards this, would be desirable.
