MacGregor Black are partnering with a leading UK retail and wholesale group on the search for a Category Controller. This is a permanent role based in Yorkshire.
As Category Controller, you will take full ownership of a key category, developing and delivering the commercial strategy to drive sales, profitability, and market share. Working cross-functionally with Buying, Commercial, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams, you will build strong supplier partnerships, identify growth opportunities, and ensure the category continues to meet customer and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned to commercial objectives.
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiations, and joint business planning.
- Deliver sales, margin, and profitability targets across your category.
- Analyse market trends, customer insight, and competitor activity to identify opportunities.
- Optimise product assortment, pricing, and promotional activity.
- Lead category reviews and present commercial recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of category plans.
- Monitor performance through KPIs and implement actions to continuously improve results.

What We're Looking For:
- Previous category management, buying, or commercial experience within retail, wholesale, or FMCG.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing category performance.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to turn insight into action.
- Proven supplier management and negotiation experience.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
- A proactive, collaborative approach with a passion for delivering growth.
£75,000–£80,000 + Benefits
