About the Role

We're working with a leading FMCG business with a strong portfolio of market-leading brands and a significant presence across the UK. They are looking for a Category Development Manager to turn shopper insight, market trends and commercial data into recommendations that influence how products are sold and activated in the market.

Operating as part of a central marketing function, this role sits at the intersection of brands, customers and commercial performance. It offers the opportunity to play a key role in shaping category strategy and influencing decision-making across the business.

How You'll Make Your Mark

You will own the category story from market analysis through to actionable recommendations, helping drive growth and profitability across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop category management strategies that support growth, market share and profitability.
  • Translate shopper and consumer insights into recommendations on assortment, pricing, promotion and category development.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and changing consumer behaviours to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Present insight-led recommendations to senior stakeholders and key customers.
  • Lead category development projects, including innovation and product launch initiatives, from concept through to delivery.
  • Collaborate with commercial, marketing and cross-functional teams to ensure insights are embedded into business plans and decision-making.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
