About the Role
The Category & Insights Manager is a critical business role, in place to optimise brand performance and deliver incremental business benefit through the implementation of Category recommendations across the trade. The role will support the delivery of UK business vision and strategy in alignment with the Proximo Premiumisation Strategy and Brand Strategies. As well as supporting the delivery of budget performance, within agreed guidelines, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability for the Company whilst balancing brand equity and value.
Key Responsibilities
- To create and drive the category agenda by analysing and interpreting trends from Category and shopper/consumer data and turn into actionable insight in key customers, that support company strategy.
- Category support for the key customers across both Retail and On Trade.
- Work with the largest customers in the UK (including the “top 4”) to build and execute effective category development solutions based on sound consumer, shopper and customer insights that allow PUK to win at the point of purchase in Grocery Multiples and Small Stores.
- Ownership and management of all data software including Nielsen, Dunnhumby, SIPs & account specific EPOS systems. To be seen as the company expert and main point of contact.
- Maintain close relationship with data agency partners to ensure resource efficiencies and service levels are maximised.
- Support sell-in decks by providing category & shopper/consumer rationale.
- Support agreement of trade terms and JBPs with key retail customers.
- Support the development and implementation of the channel promotional guidelines for each brand, with recommendations and supporting insights.
- Work closely with the local and global marketing teams to continually improve activation in the retail sector, support by providing customer and shopper insight and promotional effectiveness evaluations.

Person Specification
- Good understanding of UK Grocery and their operations, On-trade knowledge is preferable.
- Category Management experience, preferably in FMCG categories.
- Commercial understanding.
- Analytical capability, able to base decision making on turning data evaluation to actionable insight.
- Knowledge of data systems (Nielsen, Dunnhumby, SIPs).
- Ability to be adaptable and prioritise effectively.
- Track record of key stakeholder management, engagement and influence.
- High level of IT skills.
- Understanding of brand building strategies and marketing objectives.
