Category Lead – Global Grocery

Location: London, England, United Kingdom

A leading global food delivery and on-demand commerce platform is seeking a Category Lead – Global Grocery to drive commercial growth, develop strategic retail partnerships, and shape the future of its global grocery offering.

This is a high-impact role focused on managing enterprise grocery accounts, defining category strategy, and working cross-functionally with commercial, product, marketing, operations, and technology teams to deliver innovative customer experiences across multiple international markets.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Commercial Growth

  • Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the global grocery category.
  • Manage strategic partnerships with major grocery retailers, driving long-term business growth.
  • Own Profit & Loss (P&L) performance for assigned global accounts and develop clear growth plans.
  • Identify new commercial opportunities to strengthen the grocery proposition and improve customer experience.

Account & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders across global retail partners.
  • Collaborate with regional retail leaders across multiple international markets to ensure successful execution of category strategies.
  • Influence cross-functional teams to deliver commercial objectives and operational excellence.
  • Represent the business at industry events and strengthen relationships within the grocery and retail sector.

Product & Capability Development

  • Translate commercial requirements into clear business requirements for product and technology teams.
  • Develop Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) to support new product features, promotions, integrations, and customer experience improvements.
  • Drive the adoption and continuous improvement of category management capabilities across global markets.
  • Partner with Product, Technology, Marketing, Operations, Logistics, and Account Management teams to deliver new capabilities.

Analytics & Performance

  • Use data and market insights to identify growth opportunities and optimise category performance.
  • Monitor commercial performance and recommend improvements based on analytical findings.
  • Support strategic decision-making through performance reporting and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Proven experience closing enterprise-level commercial partnerships.
  • Extensive experience in account management, category management, business development, or commercial leadership within FMCG, grocery, retail, e-commerce, or marketplace environments.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing P&L performance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with international grocery or retail partners.
  • Knowledge of on-demand commerce, e-commerce, retail technology, or marketplace platforms.
  • Experience developing business requirements and working closely with Product and Technology teams.
  • Proven ability to lead complex commercial initiatives across multiple markets.
  • Strong project management and strategic planning capabilities.
