The Global Procurement Function is a strategic enabler of the Twinings Ovo business, creating and delivering compelling category strategies that support and grow the Business Strategy. Leveraging supplier resources for optimizing value delivery through total cost savings; driving innovation, sustainability, and managing risk.

The Category Lead (CL) has responsibility for the assigned sub-categories and support sub-categories across our global footprint. The CL is responsible for developing strategies in alignment with the overarching category strategy and executing the strategies. The CL is responsible for driving projects in the assigned category forward to generate additional value, manage risk, fulfill sustainability targets, and drive innovation.

The CL ensures effective business partnering with stakeholders to ensure alignment of strategy, category targets, and strategy execution, including change management if required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing category strategies in alignment with overall strategy for relevant strategies, aligning strategies with stakeholders, and getting them approved from GPLT. Responsible for implementing the category strategy according to the Category Road map.
  • Development and implementation of category strategies, from supplier sourcing through contract award to continuous contract performance management.
  • Building expertise and category management excellence for all categories in the assigned category areas.
  • Support the annual budget process in planning and defining standard pricing.
  • Responsible for managing assigned categories, conducting tender processes with national and international suppliers using e-sourcing tools, and responsibility for preparing and monitoring contracts and cover positions.
  • Responsible for driving activities to ensure sustainability targets for indirect procurement for the assigned categories.
  • Ensure that appropriate contractual coverage and liabilities management across categories are in place.
  • Responsible for ensuring supply availability of products and services for all sites.
  • Responsible for driving Business Partnering with key stakeholders for assigned category areas to understand business needs, align activities, continuously develop the supplier base to build the credibility and trust necessary to continually progress value delivery.
  • Business Partner with Social Impact and Quality teams to define ethical sourcing standards for categories and supplier conformance.
  • Conducting regular market research and benchmarking for assigned categories to ensure that we have the best-in-class supplier base in place.
  • Coaching Assistant CL to enable them to fulfill their personal growth and development plans.
  • Share best practices amongst colleagues and actively create an environment of collaboration for success in the Indirects teams.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement.
  • Nationally recognized professional certification in Procurement (e.g., Member of the Chartered Instituted of Procurement, CIP qualified, or equivalent professional procurement or supply chain qualification).
  • Experience in Ariba Guided buying would be desirable.
  • Cross-functional experience in the international field.
  • Category Management best practice.
  • Experienced Negotiation skills & tactics.
  • Independently solving complex problems, taking a broad perspective to identify solutions.
  • Project Management Experience.
