Category Manager – Hull – Excellent Benefits Package

Elevation Recruitment Group are proud to be supporting an established manufacturing business in Hull that is looking to recruit a Category Manager to join their growing team.

The Category Manager will take ownership of end-to-end sourcing across a wide spend portfolio, covering both direct and indirect commodities, and will work closely with senior stakeholders to shape and drive procurement strategy across the site.

If you have strong strategic procurement experience, a background in tender management, and are comfortable developing commodity strategies from the ground up, this Category Manager opportunity is well worth a conversation.

The Role

  • Manage end-to-end sourcing for key commodities, covering both direct and indirect spend
  • Develop and implement commodity strategies, using the seven-step sourcing methodology to guide market analysis, supplier selection and contracting
  • Review the current supply base to ensure it remains fit for purpose against strategic objectives, and put Long Term Agreements in place across strategic commodity groups
  • Implement supplier scorecards to monitor and report on performance against cost, quality, delivery and OTIF
  • Identify and deliver supplier cost savings, including VA and VE initiatives, while eliminating non-value-adding activity
  • Manage supply chain risk, tactical supplier escalations, and Supply Chain input into NPD and engineering change

The Person

  • At least 3 years purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record developing and executing commodity strategies
  • Confident negotiator with strong written, verbal and presentation skills
