About The Post
There are two positions full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week.
The University of Westminster is seeking an experienced Estates Services and Professional Services Category Manager for a designated portfolio to lead on all aspects of financial and contractual commitments and deliver high-quality, cost-effective procurement in full compliance with the Public Procurement Act 2023 and associated Regulations.
In this important role, you will act as the university-wide authority on public procurement, offering advice in accordance with Public Procurement and the University Regulations. You will work with stakeholders involved in non-pay expenditures to develop and implement category strategies that align with the university's objectives. Your goal is to maximise the university's spending power to achieve exceptional value and long-term sustainable benefits.
For your given portfolio, you will lead on tender processes and supplier management practices to ensure cost-effectiveness, mitigate risks, and make efficient use of resources.
The Procurement team works with a wide range of suppliers and works collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation. The post holder is required to build strong stakeholder and supplier relationships, provide expert category insight, and support the delivery of the long-term procurement strategy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
