Category Manager – FMCG Location: Nottingham Sector: FMCG / Consumer Goods
The Role
An established and growing FMCG business is looking for a commercially focused Category Manager to lead category strategy and development across key retail customers. This is a highly commercial role, using shopper, market and retailer data to identify growth opportunities, influence customer plans and support the wider commercial strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and develop category strategies and customer-specific category plans
- Analyse market, shopper and retailer data to identify trends, opportunities and risks
- Translate data and insights into clear commercial recommendations
- Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Brand and Customer teams
- Develop category reviews, presentations and customer-facing recommendations
- Identify opportunities across range, distribution, pricing, promotions, merchandising and NPD
- Support and influence key retailer relationships
- Monitor competitor activity, market performance and category trends
- Build compelling category stories and presentations for retail customers
- Use data and insight to drive category growth, revenue and profitability
- Support wider commercial projects and strategic initiatives

About You
We're looking for someone with:
- 3–5+ years' FMCG Category Management / Category Insight experience
- Experience working with major UK retailers
- Strong understanding of category, shopper and market data
- Experience using Nielsen/Circana, Kantar, IRI or similar data sources
- Strong commercial understanding and the ability to turn data into actionable recommendations
- Confidence presenting insights and recommendations to customers and senior stakeholders
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Ideally, experience within FMCG, consumer goods, retail or a related category
