Category Manager – FMCG – Lancashire
£45,000 - £48,000 | Hybrid
This one is about using the numbers to influence what happens next.
You’ll work closely with major retail customers, turning shopper, EPOS and market data into category strategies that drive growth — while working alongside Commercial and NPD to bring those recommendations to life.
The role
You’ll become a key category contact for customers, helping them understand what’s happening in their categories and, more importantly, what they should do about it.
- Analysing EPOS, shopper and market data to identify growth opportunities
- Developing category strategies and recommendations for retail customers
- Presenting insights directly to customers and influencing decision-making
- Supporting Joint Business Plans and retailer category reviews
- Working closely with Commercial and NPD to identify new opportunities
- Managing ongoing category relationships with key customers
- Producing regular customer and internal reports
- Building relationships across merchandising, supply chain, marketing and store operations

What they're looking for
- Previous experience in a Category or Commercial role, ideally within Food/Beverage/FMCG
- Strong analytical skills and confidence working with data
- Experience with EPOS and consumer data such as Nielsen, Kantar, Circana/IRI or similar
- Confident presenting insights and recommendations to customers
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Good understanding of the retail environment
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Private Label experience would be beneficial
