Category Manager - Business Services
Are you a strategic procurement professional with a passion for delivering value, driving supplier performance, and influencing business decisions? Join Elysium Healthcare as the Category Manager - Business Services to lead the development and delivery of category strategies across a diverse portfolio of corporate and operational services.
In this role, you will take ownership of a range of Business Services categories. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you will develop and implement category strategies that deliver cost savings, improve supplier performance, mitigate risk, and ensure the organisation receives maximum value from its third-party expenditure.
You will lead end-to-end sourcing activities, from understanding business requirements and market analysis through to tendering, contract negotiations, supplier selection, and implementation. Using your commercial expertise, you'll identify opportunities for standardisation, supplier consolidation, demand management, and service improvement while ensuring procurement decisions support operational and organisational priorities.
A key part of the role will be driving measurable savings and value delivery. You'll build robust business cases, manage sourcing pipelines, negotiate favourable commercial terms, and track both financial and non-financial benefits. You'll also proactively identify and mitigate risks relating to supplier performance, cost pressures, inflation, compliance, and business continuity.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders across Finance, Legal, IT, Information Governance, Clinical, and Operational teams, you'll provide trusted commercial advice and challenge where needed to support effective decision-making. You'll develop strong supplier relationships, oversee contract performance, manage renewals and governance processes, and ensure contracts deliver the expected outcomes throughout their lifecycle.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead category strategy and commercial delivery across the Business Services portfolio.
- Deliver measurable savings, cost avoidance, and wider value while protecting service quality and operational requirements.
- Lead sourcing, contracting, and supplier management in line with Elysium governance requirements.
- Provide trusted commercial advice and build effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Maintain clear reporting, controls, and audit trails for category activity, contracts, risks, and benefits.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
To be successful in the role, you will need:
- Strong understanding of category management, strategic sourcing, supplier management, and procurement best practice.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to identify savings opportunities and deliver value.
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyse spend data and translate insights into practical recommendations.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- MCIPS qualified or equivalent procurement experience desirable.
Experience
- Proven experience in procurement, category management, or a commercial role.
- Experience leading sourcing exercises, tenders, and commercial negotiations.
- Track record of delivering cost savings and value improvement initiatives.
- Experience developing category strategies and managing supplier relationships.
- Strong stakeholder management experience across a complex organisation.
- Experience within healthcare, social care, or a multi-site environment desirable.
