Job Description
The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Global Category Manager – Hotel/Mobility to manage and further develop the global sourcing strategy for accommodation and ground transportation across all Hitachi Energy locations. This is a dedicated global role within Travel Management/Supply Chain Management (SCM), reporting to the Head of Travel Management. The role is responsible for driving supplier selection, commercial negotiations, program performance, and continuous improvement across the hotel and mobility categories. It requires strong negotiation expertise, a strategic mindset, extensive knowledge of hotel and car rental procurement, a deep understanding of the supplier landscape and market dynamics, and close coordination with the wider Hitachi Group to achieve the best possible terms and conditions worldwide.
How you'll make an impact
- Develop and execute the global category strategy for Hotel and Mobility (Car Rental and Ground Transportation) in alignment with Hitachi Energy's travel and procurement policy.
- Negotiate and manage global and regional framework agreements with hotel chains and mobility providers, ensuring negotiated hotel and mobility solutions are available and implemented across Hitachi Energy locations worldwide.
- Coordinate and align closely with the Hitachi Group on hotel and mobility sourcing to jointly negotiate the best possible conditions, ensuring strong collaboration and alignment across the Group.
- Partner with Country Heads and regional stakeholders to understand local needs and market conditions, translating them into the global category approach.
- Analyze travel spend, booking patterns, market developments, and supplier performance data to identify trends, risks, cost-saving opportunities, and areas requiring corrective action.
- Ensure all negotiated conditions comply with corporate policy; track and report savings, KPIs, SLAs, and supplier performance.
- Ensure negotiated programs are effectively implemented within the TMC environment and Concur, including rate loading, content distribution, traveler communication, and adoption monitoring.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key hotel and mobility suppliers to manage performance, service levels, and contract renewals.
- Develop and support communication plans to promote newly negotiated programs, improve policy compliance, and enhance traveler awareness and adoption.
- Monitor industry trends, market rates, and regulatory requirements to keep the category strategy competitive.
- Support the rollout and communication of new agreements across the organization.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
