Category Manager - Property & Capital Projects
Are you an experienced procurement professional with a strong commercial background in property, estates, construction, or capital projects? Join Elysium Healthcare as the Category Manager - Property & Capital Projects to drive value, strengthen supplier performance, and support the successful delivery of our capital investment programme.
In this role, you will lead procurement activity across a diverse portfolio of property and capital expenditure, including construction and refurbishment projects, planned capital works, furniture and equipment, professional consultancy services, and project management support. Working closely with Property, Estates, Finance, and Operational teams, you will develop category strategies and sourcing plans that maximise value, reduce risk, and support Elysium's growth ambitions.
You will lead end-to-end procurement activities, from market engagement and tendering through to contract negotiation, supplier selection, and project mobilisation. Using your commercial expertise, you will establish robust supplier arrangements, negotiate favourable terms, and ensure procurement decisions are transparent, compliant, and aligned with project objectives.
A key part of the role will be delivering measurable cost savings and cost avoidance through effective sourcing strategies, commercial negotiations, supplier consolidation, and value engineering opportunities. You will provide commercial input into business cases and investment decisions, ensuring projects deliver value for money while meeting quality, safety, and operational requirements.
You will also play an important role in supplier and contract management, monitoring performance, resolving issues, and supporting the successful delivery of capital projects. By building strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, you will help ensure projects remain on track, risks are effectively managed, and contractual commitments are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead procurement category strategy and commercial governance across Property, Estates, and Capital Projects expenditure.
- Provide procurement and commercial support for construction, refurbishment, and capital investment programmes from early planning through sourcing, contract award, mobilisation, and supplier performance review.
- Deliver measurable savings, cost avoidance, and wider value while protecting quality, safety, programme, and operational requirements.
- Lead sourcing, contracting, and supplier performance management for works, professional services, and related capital categories.
- Provide independent commercial challenge, transparent reporting, and robust audit trails to support evidence-based procurement and investment decisions.

To Be Successful In This Role
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of procurement, category management, sourcing, and supplier management.
- Commercially minded with excellent negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while delivering value and managing risk.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of property, construction, estates, or capital projects procurement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- MCIPS qualification and/or equivalent procurement experience desirable.
Experience
- Proven experience in procurement or category management.
- Experience leading tenders, sourcing activities, and commercial negotiations.
- Track record of delivering cost savings and value improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing supplier performance and contractual relationships.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience within property, estates, construction, capital projects, or a similar environment.
- Healthcare, FM, or regulated industry experience desirable.
Other Requirements
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant experience desirable.
- Ability to travel to Elysium sites as required.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied portfolio of projects.
