Are you an experienced procurement professional with strong commercial acumen and a passion for building strategic supplier partnerships?
At Harbro, we are looking for a Category Manager - Raw Materials to play a key role in driving supply chain efficiencies, identifying commercial opportunities, and ensuring the secure supply of essential ingredients across our agricultural businesses.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence purchasing strategy, work closely with stakeholders across the business, and contribute directly to the success and growth of one of the UK's leading agricultural companies.
What You'll Be Doing
As Category Manager, you will:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Manage the procurement of key raw materials, including cereals, grains, and distillery co-products.
- Monitor commodity markets and identify opportunities to optimise cost, value, and supply.
- Lead supplier negotiations and establish commercial agreements that deliver measurable business benefit.
- Build and develop strong supplier relationships while driving continuous improvement and performance.
- Work collaboratively with Commercial, Finance, Transport, Operations, and Formulation teams to balance cost, quality, supply, and feed performance.
- Manage risk across raw material supply chains and support business continuity.
- Utilise data, market intelligence, and analytical insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Drive purchasing process improvements through the effective use of Dynamics 365 and strategic sourcing methodologies.

What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial negotiation and influencing skills.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and supplier performance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple business functions.
- High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and purchasing systems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-motivated with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
Desirable
- Minimum 5 years' purchasing or procurement experience.
- Experience within agriculture, animal nutrition, feed manufacturing, grain trading, or related sectors.
- Understanding of commodity markets and supply chain management.

Qualifications
- Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience.
- CIPS qualification (or equivalent supply chain qualification) desirable.
- Relevant procurement and commercial experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
