Role: Global Category Lead

We are currently looking for a Global Category Lead to join us on a 12-18 month Fixed Term Contract based in London (hybrid working).

Responsibilities

To help us develop and execute our category strategy across logistics, transport, haulage, distribution, third-party logistics, warehousing and related services. You will establish a more strategic, coordinated and commercially disciplined category approach across a currently fragmented landscape. This includes:

Acting as the recognised procurement subject matter expert for Logistics, Transport & Distribution, you'll work closely with:

  • Country procurement teams
  • Operations
  • Fleet leaders
  • Service centre stakeholders
  • Finance
  • ESG
  • Transformation workstream leads

To shape practical strategies that improve cost, service, resilience and scalability. The role is distinct from operational transport planning and the Transport Management Solution workstream. It owns supply chain strategy, supplier markets, commercial models and procurement governance, while working as a key interface with the central Delivery transformation workstream responsible for optimising internal fleet management and external fleet demand.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Significant procurement, sourcing, category management or supply chain experience, ideally including logistics, transport, distribution, fleet services, freight, haulage, third-party logistics or warehousing categories.
  • Category knowledge of logistics, transport, haulage, distribution, and associated supplier markets.
  • Demonstrable ability to deliver measurable cost savings, cost avoidance, efficiency improvements or supplier performance improvements.
  • Strong commercial experience in sourcing, tendering, negotiation, supplier selection, contract development and supplier performance management.
  • Experience managing fragmented supplier landscapes and implementing more structured supplier governance, preferred supplier or framework arrangements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the ability to drive adoption without direct authority.
