The purpose of this exciting Category & Shopper Development Lead role is responsible for making sure that commercial organization is led into the right direction in terms of shopper fundamentals.
As a collaborative team, we are looking forward to you joining us in our new vibrant and exciting offices in Farnborough, Hampshire, working in an agile working environment (3 days in the office with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week).
Category & Shopper Development Lead
- Leads the UKI Category Management and Shopper Marketing teams across diverse product portfolios, setting priorities, building capabilities and fostering a high-performance culture focused on customer partnership, shopper excellence, category leadership and commercial growth.
- Leads the development and implementation of multifaceted category, trade and shopper marketing omnichannel campaigns across diverse product portfolios within UKI, ensuring alignment with overarching business goals, category growth ambitions and market dynamics.
- Conducts comprehensive analysis of UKI sales data, category performance, market trends, shopper behaviour and consumer insights to identify growth opportunities, mitigate risks and deliver recommendations that accelerate sales performance, category growth and market share.
- Supports Account Managers and retail partners in delivering category growth plans, optimizing asset and budget utilization, and orchestrating integrated marketing activities that deliver value for shoppers, customers and Philips.
- Leads the development of compelling category and shopper growth stories that influence retailer decision-making, support joint business planning and reinforce Philips' reputation as a trusted category growth partner.
- Directs the development and deployment of innovative trade marketing collateral and assets, meticulously adhering to brand standards, regulatory stipulations and industry benchmarks to strengthen brand equity and market presence.
- Implements a data-centric approach to category, trade and shopper marketing activities, leveraging analytics and insights to optimize campaign effectiveness, improve ROI and inform future strategic priorities.
- Champions shopper-centric thinking across all trade marketing activities, ensuring activation plans are insight-led and designed to improve visibility, conversion, shopper experience and category growth.
- Drives execution excellence across physical and digital retail environments, ensuring campaigns, merchandising standards, promotional activities and retailer activation plans are implemented consistently and effectively.
- Conducts performance evaluations of category, trade and shopper marketing initiatives, distilling key insights and actionable recommendations to drive continuous improvement.
- Cultivates and nurtures strategic alliances with retail partners, negotiating mutually beneficial agreements and orchestrating joint initiatives that increase shopper engagement, drive conversion and unlock category growth opportunities.
- Supports the development and execution of retailer-specific category growth strategies, leveraging shopper, consumer and market insights to identify opportunities that create value for retailers, consumers and Philips.
- Participates in the formulation of comprehensive long-range category, shopper and trade marketing strategies, ensuring effective resource allocation and prioritization to deliver sustainable growth and profitability.
- Fosters seamless collaboration between UKI Sales, Marketing and broader business teams, ensuring category, shopper and commercial priorities are aligned and translated into impactful customer plans and activation programs.
- Collaborates closely with in-store support teams, ensuring consumer feedback is effectively collected and that teams remain informed on portfolio priorities, shopper insights and category opportunities to support in-store sales.
- Oversees the development and deployment of campaign plans, customer activation plans, retail training programmes, merchandising guidelines and execution toolkits that drive initiative awareness, execution excellence and category growth.
- Communicates trade, category and shopper initiatives to field teams, ensuring consistent execution, effective activation and best-in-class in-store excellence across all customer touchpoints.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and the following:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Category Management, Shopper Marketing, Trade Marketing, Customer Marketing, Commercial Strategy, Sales, Marketing or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams, driving category growth strategies, leveraging shopper and consumer insights, and partnering with customers to deliver sustainable commercial growth.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.

Compensation
- Base salary range: 50,000.00£ - 75,000.00£.
- Annual incentive: Linked to key performance indicators and company results.
