Catering Assistant and Dinner Hall Supervisor

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and motivated person to join our dedicated team.

The duties of a Dinner Hall Supervisor involve the safe supervision of pupils during the lunch period in the dinner hall. This includes setting up, service, supervision whilst eating meals and clearing down after lunch.

The ideal qualities we are looking for are reliability, enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and a commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of young children.

Duties

• Support for Pupils
  • Assist in the setting up of tables and putting out cutlery in dinner hall so it is ready for use.
  • Check children have washed hands prior to entering the Dining Hall.
  • Supervise pupils eating meals. Encourage pupils to eat the meal provided; assist with the serving and clearing of the meal; the cutting up of food and training pupils in the use of cutlery and table manners
  • Attend to any spillages on floors and table tops utilising equipment provided by the caterers
  • Assist pupils with the clearing of tables, return of trays and the orderly stacking and clearing of dirty plates
  • Supervise and assist pupils with packed lunches and ensure clearance off waste
  • Report to the head teacher or class teacher on duty any incidents:
    • Where pupils have acted in a manner deemed to be a danger to themselves and others
    • Where pupils have acted in an inconsiderate or discourteous manner
    • Where pupils have disobeyed the school rules
  • Report any accidents and request assistance from the school’s first aider as required.
  • Potentially outside duties may sometimes be required which includes Supervise pupils in the playground or in the classroom when the weather is inclement.
  • Offer play activities in the playground, and indoors in bad weather.
