Location: Charles River Laboratories (CDL), Tranent, EH33 2NE

Salary: £24,562.79 / £13.45 per hour

Contract type: Permanent, full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Shift pattern: 7:30 am to 3:00pm, leaving your evenings free – a rarity when you work in hospitality


As a Catering Assistant with Aramark UK at Charles River Laboratories, Tranent, you'll be part of a friendly team providing high-quality food and customer service within a world-leading scientific research environment. What you’ll do:

  • Basic food preparation including sandwiches, grab and go items, basic hot food if required.
  • Serving customers and operating the till, providing opportunities for upselling products, and ensuring you are providing excellent customer service at all times.
  • Stocking up and putting away deliveries.
  • General cleaning back and front of house, making sure the unit is clean and tidy before, during and after service.

What we’re looking for:

  • Food hygiene certificate – Level 2 desirable. However, relevant training will be provided.
  • No previous experience required, but 1-2 years’ experience in a food services or retail environment desirable.
  • Work well as part of a team.
