The vacancy

Are you passionate about delivering excellent customer service and creating a welcoming environment? We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Two Catering Assistants to join our catering team on a part-time and term time basis.

Working within our busy college catering facilities, you will play an important role in supporting the preparation and service of food and drinks, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene, and ensuring customers receive a professional and positive experience every day. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in providing outstanding service.

We are looking for 2 Catering Assistants!

Vacancy 1: 30 hours per week

Work Pattern: Monday - Thursday 12nn - 6:30pm Friday 12:30nn - 4:30pm

Actual Salary: £16,759.49 per annum + £2,967.29 Holiday Pay

Vacancy 2: 20 hours per week

Work Pattern: Monday - Friday 10am - 2pm

Actual Salary: £11,173 per annum + £1,978.20 Holiday Pay

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and service of food, snacks, drinks and basic baking activities.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene within kitchen and dining areas.
  • Deliver a prompt, professional and customer-focused service at all times.
  • Provide customers with information about food and drink offerings and respond positively to enquiries.
  • Handle cash and support day-to-day catering operations where required.
  • Report customer feedback, requests and concerns to the Catering Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the wider Estates and Facilities team.
  • Undertake mandatory training and participate in continuous professional development activities.
  • Support students on placement within the catering environment where appropriate.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and professional working environment.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in a catering, hospitality or customer service environment.
  • Experience of food preparation, cooking and service.
  • Strong communication and team-working skills with the ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • A willingness to work flexibly to meet operational requirements.
  • Relevant Food Hygiene qualification, or willingness to work towards achieving one.
