Catering & Hospitality Apprentice

Foundation apprenticeships are introductory courses that help young people get started in an industry. You do not need to have any specific qualifications or experience to apply. Anyone between 16 and 21 can start a foundation apprenticeship. If you're between 22 and 24, you can start if you: have an EHC plan are in care or have been in care are in prison or have been in prison.

Northern Skills are recruiting on behalf of Butterfold Bakery for a hardworking individual who is passionate about cooking and baking. The successful candidate will complete a Foundation apprenticeship in Catering & Hospitality.

Requirements

  • You do not need to have any specific qualifications or experience to apply for a foundation apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily bakery production — breads, pastries, cakes, and savoury items
  • Measure, weigh, and follow recipes accurately
  • Support with mixing, shaping, laminating, and finishing dough
  • Maintain excellent cleanliness and safety standards
  • Operate bakery tools safely under supervision
  • Assist with stock rotation, storage, and unpacking deliveries
  • Contribute ideas for new baked goods when appropriate
  • Support the shop team when required
  • Work collaboratively in a fast‑paced artisan environment

Benefits

  • Training course: Catering and hospitality foundation apprenticeship (level 2)
  • Wage: £12,480 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
  • Minimum wage rates apply for apprentices
  • Hours: 30 hours a week. Early mornings required. Typical shifts: 6:00am - 3:00pm (Wednesday - Saturday). Hours may vary.
  • Duration: 8 months
  • Start date: Tuesday 25 August 2026
