Catering Manager
Contract: Business & Industry
Location: Edinburgh, EH5 2XS
Hours of work: 39 (Monday - Friday)
Contract Type: Permanent
We are seeking an experienced Catering Manager to lead a 19-person team within a large, high-volume workplace catering operation serving approximately 2,500 employees on site.
This is a fast-paced and varied environment with a strong focus on quality, customer service, and delivering an excellent experience across multiple catering outlets.
Job Description
We are looking for a hands-on, people-focused manager who can lead from the front, build strong relationships, and maintain consistently high standards across the operation.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile site that is preparing for a significant £1 million refurbishment in March 2027.
The Operation
- 19-person catering team
- Approximately 2,500 employees on site
- Two café bars operating from 7:30am to 3:00pm
- Two restaurant operations, including:
- Unity Coffee Bar serving a café-style menu from 12:45pm to 1:30pm
- A high-volume restaurant serving 400 to 500 covers during lunch
- Main restaurant operating from 11:30am to 1:30pm
- Fresh soups, sandwiches, and main courses available daily
- Combination of made-on-site and bought-in hospitality
- Separate kitchens supporting different catering operations
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of 19 catering professionals.
- Ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of all catering outlets across the site.
- Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, and service.
- Build strong relationships with clients and senior stakeholders on site.
- Deliver an excellent customer experience across all areas of the operation.
- Support the catering team during busy service periods, including providing hands-on assistance when required.
- Monitor operational performance and ensure compliance with company and site standards.
- Support the catering operation through the planned refurbishment and future development of the site.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Previous contract catering experience within a high-volume or similarly fast-paced environment is desirable.
- Strong operational background with experience leading and motivating busy teams.
- Good cooking skills and a sound understanding of food preparation.
- Confident stepping into the kitchen and supporting the team when required.
- Customer-focused with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on role and leading from the front.
- Proven experience managing high-volume operations.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to maintain high standards in a demanding environment.
- Commercially aware with a focus on delivering an excellent customer experience.
