Role Description
The Catering Office Manager is responsible for overseeing the administrative and coordination functions of the catering service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital site in Reading. This full-time, on-site role includes managing catering office operations, coordinating staff rotas, maintaining accurate records, and supporting compliance with food safety, health and safety, and NHS policies. The post holder will liaise with clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure catering services meet patient, visitor, and staff needs, including special diets and service schedules. Day-to-day tasks involve monitoring service performance, handling queries and complaints, supporting budget and stock control processes, and contributing to service improvements. The Catering Office Manager will also assist with training coordination, internal communications, and reporting to catering and facilities management.

- Strong office administration and coordination skills, including scheduling, record-keeping, and document management.
- Experience in catering, hospitality, or facilities support, with an understanding of food service operations and customer service standards.
- Knowledge of basic budgeting, stock control, and procurement processes within a service or operational environment.
- Familiarity with food hygiene, health and safety, and regulatory compliance in catering or healthcare settings.
- Proficiency with common office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, databases) and the ability to learn NHS systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on service quality.
- Previous experience in a healthcare, public sector, or large organizational setting is desirable.
- Supervisory or team-leading experience in an office or service environment would be beneficial.
- Relevant vocational qualification or training in administration, catering, or hospitality is an advantage.
