About the Company
The role of an On-Board Manager at Avanti West Coast is essential to our success, with a focus on our people and customer experience. This is a people orientated role within which you are responsible for a team of on-board Caterers who deliver a safe and memorable service to our customers. (Please note this role is not based onboard the train - it is a people management role- managing the Catering grade)
About the Role
You will be responsible for leading and engaging this group of people to deliver a consistent level of excellence in customer service. You will be instrumental in being 'committed' and 'passionate' and use the company vision and brand values when leading your team to excel.
Responsibilities
- Be accountable for managing behaviours in line with the business values, supervising performance, sickness absence and availability levels of your team and ensuring that you provide feedback and address issues that may arise.
- Be required to lead and own the implementation of any planned changes and to support on board teams with any new commercial activities.
- Responsible for the safety of your On-Board teams ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Manage budgets in line with Finance Business Partner.
- Ensure the delivery of great customer service in all circumstances.
- This post holds an 'On Call' commitment and requires flexibility to work hours that suit the railway environment- please note this does mean that you need to live within 60 minutes of the depot.

Preferred Skills
You will be great at managing your workload and you will have the safety of others (including yourself!) at the forefront of your mind. You will be customer focused and ensure each and every customer has a great experience with us. Ideally, you will have worked in a similar, fast-paced environment with proven experience of juggling multiple priorities. Flexibility and a positive approach to managing and developing a team are also key requirements of this role. Please note Railway experience would be desirable however not essential.
Pay range and compensation package
In return for your hard work and commitment you will get a competitive salary with the opportunity for real career progression and excellent training and development. As well as working with a fantastic team you will also receive:
