Job Description

We are seeking a reliable, organised, and proactive Catering Storeman to join our Workplace team at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for managing stock, receiving and distributing deliveries, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring ward supplies and kitchen operations run smoothly. Working closely with the catering, domestic services, and management teams, you will play a vital role in supporting patient dining services and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. If you have experience in stores, warehousing, or inventory management, strong organisational skills, and a positive team-focused attitude, we would love to hear from you.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage Goods Receiving and Stock Control
    • Receive, inspect, and record deliveries, ensuring products meet order specifications, quality standards, and temperature requirements, reporting any discrepancies or damage promptly.

  • Maintain Accurate Inventory Records

    • Monitor stock levels, conduct regular stock takes, and follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures to ensure effective stock rotation and minimise waste.
  • Coordinate Ward and Catering Supplies

    • Download and process orders from DISH and SAFFRON systems, ensuring timely distribution of food, beverages, and ward supplies to designated areas.
  • Maintain Safe and Organised Storage Areas

    • Keep storerooms clean, secure, and well-organised, ensuring all stock is stored correctly and in compliance with food safety and health and safety standards.
  • Complete Documentation and Compliance Tasks

    • Maintain accurate records of stock movements, delivery notes, temperature checks, and inventory logs, ensuring full traceability and accountability.
  • Support Wider Catering Operations

    • Provide assistance across catering services, including Reed's Café and kitchen areas, while demonstrating flexibility, teamwork, and excellent time management to meet operational needs.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous Stores or Warehouse Experience

    • Experience in a stores, warehouse, logistics, catering stores, or stock control role, with an understanding of inventory management processes.
  • Strong Organisational Skills

    • Ability to manage stock effectively, maintain accurate records, prioritise workloads, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Physical Fitness and Manual Handling Ability

    • Capable of lifting, moving, and transporting stock safely, and carrying out physically demanding duties throughout the working day.

  • IT and Systems Knowledge

    • Competent in using inventory management systems and basic computer applications, including stock control, ordering, and record-keeping software.
  • Excellent Communication and Teamwork Skills

    • Able to work collaboratively with catering, domestic services, ward teams, and management, while communicating clearly and professionally.
  • Flexible, Positive, and Customer-Focused Approach

    • A proactive attitude, willingness to support different areas of the catering operation, and commitment to delivering high-quality service to meet patient needs.
