The vacancy
We are looking for a Catering Supervisor to help deliver a professional, customer-focused catering service across DN Colleges. This is a hands-on role where you will support food preparation, cooking, baking and service while helping to ensure high standards of food hygiene, customer service and operational efficiency.
Working closely with the Catering Manager and wider catering team, you will help organise staffing, support hospitality services, maintain a clean and safe environment, and ensure catering outlets run smoothly. The role requires a positive and flexible approach, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to delivering an excellent experience for students, staff and visitors.
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
- Salary: £24,826 - £25,511 Grade 2
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Hours: 35.5 hours per week
- Working Weeks: 52 weeks per year
- Location: Doncaster
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, cooking and baking activities across catering outlets.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and kitchen safety at all times.
- Organise staffing to ensure catering facilities operate efficiently and effectively.
- Provide visible, approachable support during service periods and maintain knowledge of menu items and products.
- Support the delivery of in-house hospitality services.
- Complete daily and weekly administrative records in line with relevant legislation.
- Respond appropriately to customer feedback and escalate requests or complaints to the Catering Manager.
- Maintain awareness of allergen information and products used within the catering operation.
- Support training and development activities within the catering team.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, students on placement and the wider Estates and Facilities team.
- Provide support across different DN Colleges sites when required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, departmental objectives and service standards.
Essential Criteria
- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 in Catering or experience in a similar catering supervisory role.
- Experience of food preparation, cooking and food service.
- Previous customer service and cash handling experience.
- Ability to organise staff, explain tasks clearly and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication and team-working skills with a professional and customer-focused approach.

Important Things to Note
- In DN Colleges we call this role Catering Supervisor but you might know this as Catering Team Leader, Food Service Supervisor, Kitchen Supervisor, Catering Services Supervisor or Hospitality Supervisor.
- This role requires flexibility to work across DN Colleges sites and support service delivery when needed.
- The successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check.
