Location: UK based, with UK and international travel to client sites as required. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be able to undertake international travel as required by the role. The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain any visas, work permits, licences or other permissions required to legally undertake survey work in the countries in which the Company operates.
Employment: Full-time although part-time will be considered

We are a well-established engineering group specialising in corrosion protection and electrical interference affecting buried pipelines and other metallic structures. Our clients operate predominantly within the oil, gas and water industries.
We are at the forefront of technology and technical development within our industry. Our Technical Director is a designated subject matter expert in these fields by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and plays a leading role in the development of European (EN), international (ISO and IEC), German (DVGW) and French (CEFRACOR) standards.
Working within a highly specialised area of engineering, Corroconsult offers the opportunity to develop expertise in a technically challenging field while working alongside experienced engineers and industry specialists.
Our Head Office is in Newport, Shropshire.
The Role
We are looking for Cathodic Protection Engineers to join our specialist engineering team.
The successful candidates will work closely with the Technical Director and Cathodic Protection Engineering team, undertaking a combination of field-based cathodic protection survey work, stray current surveys and analysis, reporting, cathodic protection design and client liaison.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is keen to develop their practical and technical skills within a specialist engineering environment. We are particularly interested in candidates with existing experience or qualifications in cathodic protection, corrosion engineering or electrical engineering, although candidates with the right academic background and aptitude will also be considered.
The role will involve both independent and team-based work, with opportunities to take responsibility for field activities and develop into a technical and leadership role within the company.
Key Responsibilities - after training
- Carrying out routine and non-routine cathodic protection and corrosion surveys and field measurements.
- Identifying, investigating and addressing cathodic protection and corrosion-related issues.
- Recording, analysing and interpreting field data.
- Preparing clear and accurate technical reports for clients.
- Preparing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for company activities.
- Preparing cathodic protection designs, calculations and drawings.
- Electrical interference assessment
- Researching and applying relevant British, European and international standards.
- Working with specialist survey and measurement equipment.
- Providing technical support, mentoring and guidance to survey teams where required.
- Acting as Survey Team Leader when assigned to a survey team.
- Liaising professionally with clients, landowners, contractors and other technical personnel.
- Planning activities and managing fieldwork when required.
- Working closely with the Senior Corrosion Engineer and Technical Director on technical matters and project delivery.

Responsibilities will be developed in accordance with the candidate’s experience and competency, with reference to EN ISO 15257:2017.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for people with a genuine interest in engineering and a desire to develop specialist expertise in cathodic protection and corrosion control.
Ideally, you will have one or more of the following:
- NACE/AMPP Cathodic Protection qualifications.
- iCorr certification.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related subject.
- Previous experience in cathodic protection, corrosion control, pipeline integrity or a related engineering discipline.
Formal cathodic protection qualifications are not essential for the right candidate. We are happy to consider engineers with a technical background who demonstrate the aptitude and enthusiasm to develop within the specialist field of cathodic protection.
Skills and Experience You Will Develop

- Developing proficiency in Python and Mathcad for mathematical calculations, data analysis, statistics and the analysis of large datasets.
- Developing proficiency in Grapher software for data analysis and presentation.
- Preparing clear and accurate technical reports based on fieldwork and survey data.
- Carrying out site measurements and surveys, with an understanding of the importance of accurate data collection and reporting.
- Learning how to communicate and explain complex technical information to non-specialists.
- Working alongside and liaising with other engineers, specialists and consultants.
- Developing practical problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Gaining experience with specialist survey and measurement equipment and emerging technologies.
- Developing knowledge and practical experience of cathodic protection, corrosion control and electrical interference.
- Developing an understanding of relevant engineering standards and their application.

Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Good general IT skills, including Microsoft 365.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Willingness to travel to client sites and work away from home when required.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in a range of weather conditions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
