About the Role
Help Keep Hillingdon Safe
Are you calm under pressure, observant and committed to making a real difference in your community?
We are looking for a CCTV Evidential Review Officer to join our CCTV Control Room team, helping to protect residents, prevent crime and support emergency services across the borough.
Working in a fast-paced, 24/7 control room environment, you will proactively monitor the Council's CCTV network, respond to incidents as they happen, and ensure high-quality evidential footage is captured and managed in line with legal and operational standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same and where your actions can have a direct impact on public safety.
As a CCTV Evidential Review Officer, you will play a key role in supporting community safety by monitoring over 3,000 CCTV cameras across the borough. Working closely with the Police, London Fire Brigade, Council services and other partner organisations, you will help detect and deter crime and anti-social behaviour while ensuring all evidence is managed securely and professionally.
You will:
- Proactively monitor CCTV cameras to detect crime, anti-social behaviour and incidents requiring intervention.
- Record, review and download CCTV footage to evidential standards for use by the Police and the courts.
- Liaise with the Police, emergency services and Council teams to support live incidents.
- Maintain accurate incident logs and records of evidential material.
- Manage the secure storage and release of CCTV footage and related media.
- Ensure all CCTV operations comply with legislation, data protection requirements and operational procedures.
- Carry out administrative duties relating to incident management and evidential records.
- Support quality assurance activities and report operational faults where required.
- Maintain the security of the CCTV Control Room and associated systems.
- Attend court to provide evidence where required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is professional, reliable and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
You will have:
- Excellent observation and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and decision-making skills.
- The ability to remain calm and respond effectively under pressure.
- Good IT and administrative skills.
- Experience working within a CCTV, security, control room, emergency services or similar operational environment would be advantageous.
- An understanding of confidentiality, data protection and evidential procedures.
- The ability to work effectively with partner agencies including the Police and emergency services.
- A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and supporting safer communities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
