Hours: Full time, 42 hours, 4 on 4 off, days and night

Pay: £17 per hour


Join Our Team as a CCTV Operator

The London Museum is one of the United Kingdom's most iconic cultural institutions - home to world-class collections and visited by people from across the globe. Behind every exhibition, delivery, and carefully handled artefact is a dedicated operational team ensuring everything moves safely, securely, and seamlessly.

We are seeking a confident and highly capable Control Room Operator to be responsible for maintaining continuous monitoring of the Museum's security and life safety systems, providing a central point of coordination for operational activity and supporting the safe and effective operation of the Museum.


About The Role

As a CCTV Operator you will be responsible for:

  • Control room operations, CCTV and alarm monitoring, radio communications, incident management support, access control administration, security systems monitoring and operational communications.
  • Monitor CCTV systems to identify suspicious activity, security breaches, safety concerns and operational issues.
  • Monitor intruder detection systems, object protection systems, access control systems, fire alarm systems, Building Management Systems and other security systems.
  • Support the management and coordination of security incidents, emergencies and operational disruptions.
  • Liaise effectively with security officers, supervisors, museum personnel, contractors and emergency services where required.
  • Ensure all monitoring activities are conducted in accordance with legislation, Museum policies, Assignment Instructions and company procedures.
  • Maintain strong situational awareness throughout each shift, communicate clearly and accurately, coordinate incident responses, record key information effectively, and uphold high standards in an environment where security and visitor experience work closely together and customer service is central to every interaction.

Essential

What we are looking for:

  • Valid DS licence.
  • Previous experience working within a Security Control Room, Operations Centre, CCTV Control Room or similar monitoring environment.
  • Hold a valid SIA Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) Licence.
  • Experience monitoring CCTV, alarm systems, access control systems, intruder detection systems, fire alarm systems and other security technologies.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including professional radio and telephone manner.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the production of accurate incident reports, logs, statements and handovers.
  • Experience following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Assignment Instructions and escalation procedures.
  • Experience supporting incident management and coordinating responses to alarms, emergencies and operational incidents.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional and effective whilst working under pressure and managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain situational awareness in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a commitment to delivering a positive visitor experience.
  • Competent IT skills and experience using security management software and Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

  • Experience within a museum, cultural, heritage or visitor attraction environment.
  • Experience monitoring object protection systems and collection protection alarms.
  • Experience of behavioural detection, behavioural analysis or identifying suspicious activity through CCTV monitoring.
  • CCTV investigation experience.
  • Knowledge of hostile reconnaissance indicators and counter-terrorism awareness principles.
  • Experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and business continuity arrangements.
