Shift Schedule
- Monday–Friday: Plan dependent on route, typically 5 days per week
- Start times: 3:00 AM – 4:00 AM (varies by route)
- End times: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM (route completion-dependent)
- Routes will never exceed DOT hours
- Weekend work may be required based on business needs
- Minimum of 1 overnight (layover) route per week
Job Purpose and Overview
As a CDL Class A Driver at Dawn Foods, you will support our customers by safely and efficiently transporting product from our distribution centers via tractor-trailer. Your role includes delivering to various customers while maintaining high standards, including proper handling of product and compliance with company policies.

What It Takes to Be a CDL Class A Driver at Dawn Foods
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL license in good standing
- Minimum of 6 months Class A commercial driving experience
- Ability to work within the United States
- At least 21 years old
- Physically able to lift 50+ pounds consistently throughout the shift
- Ability to operate manual handling equipment (MHE)
- Experience delivering to food service accounts is preferred
- Helpful (but not required):
- Familiarity with lift-gate, reefer, electric pallet jack, and forklift
- Experience with electronic logs and computer systems
Responsibilities
- Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT operating rules, recording requirements, and safe food handling procedures
- Interact professionally and positively with customers on-site
- In direct store delivery (DSD), break down product and assist with shelf stacking at each stop
- Drive and maintain multi-temperature trailers
- Load and unload product with electric pallet jacks and two-wheelers
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and collect invoice receipts

- Requires fine motor coordination with arms, hands, fingers, and legs
- Frequently handles items weighing over 50 pounds
- Required vision skills: Distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
- Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Subject to cool or cold temperatures
- Primarily works outdoors or in GPS/video-monitored vehicles
- Daily exposure to elements such as dust, odors, noise, and weather extremes
- Must be aware of and tolerate potential allergen exposure (peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, wheat, soy)
