We're seeking an experienced Ceded Reinsurance Manager to lead key aspects of ceded reinsurance accounting within a global insurance business. This role is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, reconciliations, recoverables, and the financial close process while partnering with underwriting, claims, finance, brokers, and external stakeholders. You'll also play a key leadership role by mentoring team members, driving process improvements, strengthening financial controls, and ensuring accurate reporting across multiple accounting and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end and quarter-end close process for ceded reinsurance accounting.
- Manage, coach, and develop a small team, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of work.
- Prepare and review ceded reinsurance financial results and analysis for GAAP, statutory, Lloyd's, and management reporting.
- Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee calculations and accounting for excess of loss, facultative, and proportional reinsurance contracts.
- Manage reinsurance recoverables, working with brokers, claims teams, and counterparties to resolve outstanding balances.
- Oversee profit commission and sliding scale commission calculations, billings, and collections.
- Support internal and external audits, maintaining robust documentation and a strong control environment.
- Build strong relationships with finance, underwriting, actuarial, claims, and other business stakeholders.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, automation projects, and ad hoc reporting to enhance reporting quality and efficiency.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Insurance, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in ceded reinsurance accounting within the insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Strong understanding of insurance and reinsurance accounting principles.
- Experience preparing financial reporting under GAAP, statutory, and management reporting frameworks (Lloyd's experience is advantageous).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong data analysis and reconciliation capabilities.
- Experience managing or mentoring finance team members.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across finance, underwriting, claims, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight reporting deadlines.
- A proactive approach to improving processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
