Position Description

This is a full-time position requiring 1880 hours of support per year; work is performed at the customer site. As a Cellular Mobility Systems Engineer, you will apply systems engineering principles to various systems assigned for mobile communications research and development, e.g., 5/6G, mobile OS, and handset operations.

You will work with many different customer and IC organizations as they seek to leverage information gained through many diverse studies, developments, and laboratory exercises that will push the envelope of modern communications methods and technologies.

An ability to view several different approaches and string together the best path for meeting IC requirements with limited resources will be essential; as well as the ability to work with a diverse set of requirements as the organization moves forward.

In addition, you will coordinate and lead many research efforts, an annual technology review and an annual report to give the customer insight to the budget and progress of the ongoing Mobile Technology investigations being pursued.

There is a need for Communications and Outreach skills for managing users’ expectations, understanding training and architecture deficiencies, and prioritizing discrepancy and requirements efforts. Periodic briefings and reports may be required for customer/community interactions.

Required Skills/Job Duties

  • Extensive experience with systems engineering processes that support planning, scheduling and managing several simultaneous efforts in a wide range of technologies, but with special emphasis on TSMOD, ELINT and FISINT.

Individual Capabilities/Experience Desired

  • Well-grounded in system engineering and architecture.
  • Experience in collaborating with peer organizations to overcome barriers to success and create shared solutions.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or other related discipline plus at least 20 years of systems engineering experience.
  • A Master’s degree or Ph.D. may be substituted for two years of experience.
  • A high school diploma or GED plus 24 years of systems engineering experience would also be acceptable.
