Role Eligibility

Working Model
This role is aligned to ONS hybrid working principles, with an expected 40% office attendance.
Job Summary
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the UK’s largest producer of official statistics, covering a range of key economic, social, and demographic topics. ONS is preparing for Census 2031, aiming for an inclusive, digital-first census. The Geospatial Strategy is a core part of this work, driving the effective use of geospatial methods across the organization.
Job Description
As the successful candidate, you will lead a team of geospatial analysts, managing their day-to-day activities and development. You will lead on meeting Census requirements and managing geospatial research/analysis projects to improve methods and analytic pipelines. You will nurture innovative thinking and inspire your colleagues to push geospatial analysis forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day tasks supporting the development of policy, methodology, and products for Census.
- Coach, quality assess, and peer review teams' methodologies and outputs.
- Collaborate with other ONS business areas to help them meet objectives through geographic advice, products, systems, or services.
- Work with academic and commercial experts on new research and analytical methods.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to build relationships and understand requirements.
- Support the production of geography training/teaching materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support and engage the geography community across ONS and Government.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: £43,644
- Pension: £12,643 contribution from ONS towards Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme
