This post is a secondment, which will run until 31/03/2027 due to funding. There is a possibility of contract extension dependant on successful funding. Secondments will require support of your current Line Manager.

Contracts for Innovation Cymru is looking for a Centre Project Manager to play a key role in delivering highly complex, highly sensitive projects across the Health Board and across Public Sector organisations within Wales. This interesting and varied role is critical to supporting the successful development, delivery and evaluation of innovations in alignment with Welsh Government strategies.

So, what does the Contracts for Innovation Cymru do:
We are funded by Welsh Government and hosted by Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board to help drive innovative solutions for challenges across healthcare and the wider public sector. We work with colleagues to identify their unmet needs, where no readily available solution exists, and frame that challenge into a competition that invites businesses, third sector and academia to propose their idea for a solution. The successful applicants receive funding and the Centre project manages the development and captures the benefits of their innovative solutions.
Main duties of the job
- To work collaboratively with multiple sectors, i.e. Public Bodies, voluntary agencies and private industry to identify ‘unmet needs’.
- To scope out, research and develop bids to obtain funding to run Contracts for Innovation projects within Wales.
- To plan, monitor and control projects, work packages throughout the project lifecycle to deliver benefits using approved / accepted methodologies
- To support and mentor other Challenge Leads in project management and the Contracts for Innovation process.
- To work closely with all Centre and project stakeholders to ensure the delivery of all projects within the Centres portfolio.
- To attend/ run events to promote Contracts for Innovation Cymru across the UK and potentially overseas.
- To complete or ensure that all Project Management processes/tools including business cases, specifications, project plans, test plans, training plans, work packages etc. are completed and maintained.
- To manage project budget(s), ensuring that they are accurately costed, monitored and spent, advising the relevant bodies of status and any issues.
- To ensure that effective communications for the Centre and projects are maintained internally and externally and represent the Centre at local and national levels.
- Manage staff within area of responsibility, providing line management for delegated staff within the centre, this will include appraisals, sickness management, recruitment, selection etc.
