An excellent opportunity to join a dedicated and enthusiastic team within the Norfolk Registration Service, offering you a hybrid role (once fully trained) based at County Hall, Norwich.
We are seeking two Ceremony Team Clerks, to be part of our ceremony team dealing with the administration for all our legal marriages and civil partnerships and non-legal ceremonies. Positions are available as full-time posts, but we would consider part time for the right candidates.
If you are a ‘people person’ who is looking for a role where you will engage with members of the public, mainly over the phone or on email, for what is very likely to be one of the most important days of their lives, then this is the role for you.
You will be the first point of contact to deal with any requests for assistance or guidance regarding the ceremonies we offer. This is a customer facing role where you will be required to adapt your style of communication to your audience, demonstrate excellent communication skills and have experience of working with customers from all backgrounds.
The main duties of this role are to provide excellent all-round clerical, administrative and specialist support relating to ceremonies. A proven track record of working in a customer facing environment is required for this role, and if you have knowledge of sales, this is an added benefit. The aptitude to learn complex information quickly and put it into practice with speed and accuracy is essential. Cross-departmental communications are key to our business and are an everyday activity. You must have first-class IT skills and be confident working with Microsoft Office, and have a good general knowledge of spreadsheets, Outlook, Teams as well as bespoke IT systems.
You must be a self-starter and have the ability to work without direct supervision in an efficient, professional and responsible capacity. We like our team to be proactive and innovative and bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to ensure we continue to grow and deliver the best service for our couples.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
