Pulse AHP’s Phlebotomy Team is currently recruiting for experienced Phlebotomists/Healthcare Support Workers to join the team for a role based in the Northern Ireland area.
This project is due to start at the beginning of July and will be ongoing.
Role Details
Position: Phlebotomist/Healthcare Support Worker
Location: Northern Ireland
Hours: Part Time, shift patterns vary, this is a shift-based role. We would be looking for candidates to ideally have at least 1-2 days per week availability.
Duration: Ongoing
Essential Skills
- Recent phlebotomy experience of at least 12 months
- Proof of competency is desired but not essential
- Driver is essential as per the above
Requirements
To be successful in this role you MUST have at least 1 year’s experience in drawing bloods and have competency as a phlebotomist. You must also have the following driving skills:

- Be 25 years old or over
- Hold a clean full manual driving licence
- Have not been refused motor insurance
- Have held a full licence for at least 12 months
Main Responsibilities
- Capture height, weight, and waist measurements
- Take heart rate and blood pressure checks and input result data onto the system
- Draw two blood samples for each participant, labelling and storing correctly
- Check the welfare of the participant throughout the appointment, escalating any issues to the nurse in charge as required
- Offer signposting, advice, and guidance to participants as required
- Prepare boxes containing samples to be collected by the courier at the end of every shift
Essential Requirements
- Must be a phlebotomist with recent experience of at least 12 months
- Must be willing to fully register with our agency

Pay Rate
The pay rate for this role will be up to £19 per hour (umbrella rate) with weekend enhancements.
About the Work
This work is part of a large health research programme – it’s been specifically designed to help people live healthier lives for longer. Volunteers provide physical measurements, blood samples, and lifestyle data to help with the discovery and testing of more effective approaches to disease prevention, early detection, and treatment.
Locations
Some of the areas we expect this to be in the next few months include:
- Belfast
- Glengormley
- Dundonald
- Newtownards
- Bangor
- Carrickfergus
This will be on an outreach vehicle which will move around on a regular basis every 5-6 weeks and so it is essential you are able to drive and very beneficial to be able to work at different sites.
