Certified Surgical Technologist First Assist / OB / Full Time

The Certified Surgical Technologist/First Assistant is responsible for providing safe, skilled intraoperative support by assisting with patient positioning, visualization, hemostasis, wound closure, and dressings. This role promotes patient safety and surgical efficiency through collaboration with the surgical team and adherence to clinical standards and procedures. The Certified Surgical Technologist/First Assistant is an onsite position.
Essential Functions
- Prepare the operative environment by ensuring supplies and equipment are sterile and functional, completing surgical scrub and counts, and verifying patient and surgical site.
- Anticipate surgeon needs using appropriate surgical equipment.
- Perform postoperative care and ensure room readiness by assisting patient transfers, instruments, and OR preparation for the next procedure.
- Facilitate clear visualization for the surgeon by holding instruments, retracting tissue, maintaining a clean and visible surgical field, and controlling bleeding using pressure, clamps, or cauterization in accordance with established guidelines.
- Provide intraoperative patient care, including fluid and drainage management, wound closure assistance, dressing application, and actions that promote proper healing as directed.
- Prepare, prevent, protect, and respond to support our culture of safety.
- Works hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request. May be expected to work longer hours as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
