CG Generalist – London: Hybrid

Midas VFX is looking for an experienced CG Generalist to join our London team.

We're looking for a talented and versatile artist with a strong understanding of the full CG pipeline and an excellent eye for creating photorealistic work.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across multiple disciplines, including modelling, texturing, look development, lighting, rendering and environments, FX and able to take ownership of shots from initial brief through to final delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality, photoreal CG for feature film and high-end television projects
  • Work across modelling, texturing, look development, fx, lighting, rendering and environment work
  • Take ownership of CG shots and assets through multiple stages of production
  • Work closely with our VFX Supervisors, CG Supervisors and Compositing team
  • Integrate CG elements convincingly into live-action photography
  • Troubleshoot creative and technical challenges throughout production
  • Respond to feedback and implement notes accurately and efficiently
  • Deliver consistently high-quality work within production schedules
  • Collaborate with artists and departments across the studio

Requirements

  • Professional experience working within feature film or high-end episodic VFX
  • Strong knowledge of Maya / Houdini
  • Strong experience with V-Ray / Arnold
  • Excellent lighting, look development and rendering skills
  • Strong modelling and texturing skills
  • Good understanding of physically based materials, shaders and lighting
  • Experience creating and integrating photoreal CG into live-action plates
  • Strong understanding of composition, scale, colour, lighting and photography
  • Understanding of compositing and Nuke is beneficial
  • Strong artistic and technical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team
