The Alliance is part of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food-secure future (https://www.cgiar.org/).

The Senior Manager has a critical role to manage the external reviews. The incumbent will work collaboratively with one other IAES Senior Evaluation Manager focused on the research portfolio evaluation pillar, as well as with other work-streams of IAES, as well as CGIAR and Center MEL colleagues, to ensure that information generated through independent evaluations is timely, of high quality, available and accessible, in support of management, learning and decision-making processes.
The role requires an experienced evaluation professional and manager, with specific experience in evaluation of organizations or research institutes. The position holder will have a track record of designing, planning, overseeing, providing quality assurance, analyzing, and reporting on evaluations. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
