Chagford CSA is a ten-acre community-supported market garden on the north-east edge of Dartmoor supplying 130 CSA veg-shares a week to local households. We’re going into our seventeenth growing-season and looking to recruit a part-time Assistant Grower for six-months from mid April – mid October 2026. We have recently moved onto a new growing site where we are developing a silvo-horticultural system using woodchip and biochar from our coppice woodland to build fertility and soil-carbon within our rotation.

The position will support all aspects of running a commercial community supported market garden, from propagation to cultivation, transplanting, weeding, organic crop husbandry, harvesting and managing volunteers. The role is paid at £12.50/hour for 22-hours/week – across four days Monday-Thursday. Caravan accommodation – or space to park-up – on one of our growing sites is also available. We’re looking for someone who is hard-working, enthusiastic, practical and willing to learn and work as part of a team. A season’s experience on a commercial market garden is desirable but not essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
