Role Description
The Chair of the Board of Trustees is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Cardiff, responsible for guiding the strategic direction and governance of Motion Control Dance. On a day-to-day basis, the Chair will lead board meetings, coordinate trustee activities, and ensure effective oversight of the charity’s operations and finances.

The role involves:

- Working closely with the Chief Executive and senior staff to review business plans, monitor performance, and support decision-making that aligns with the charity’s mission.
- Representing the organization at key external meetings and events.
- Building relationships with stakeholders and partners.
- Promoting best practice in governance, risk management, and compliance.
- Mentoring trustees.
- Supporting succession planning.
- Fostering a collaborative, accountable board culture.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of the charitable sector, including experience with charities and nonprofit governance.
- Proficiency in Finance and Business Planning to provide oversight of budgets, financial sustainability, and resource allocation.
- Demonstrated ability in Strategic Planning and Corporate Governance to shape long-term direction and ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in board or senior leadership roles, ideally within arts, community, or social impact organizations.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Sound judgment, integrity, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and ethical decision-making.
- Ability to commit sufficient time for board duties on-site in Cardiff and to be an active, visible presence for the charity.
