Chair of the Board of Trustees – Access to Treatment Foundation

Location: UK-wide / Remote
Commitment: Approximately 4–8 hours per month, with additional involvement during establishment
Remuneration: Voluntary (reasonable expenses reimbursed)
Organisation: New charity in formation, seeking registration in England and Wales

About the Foundation

Access to Treatment Foundation is a new charitable initiative being established to help people living with serious, rare and life-limiting medical conditions access potentially life-changing treatments that may otherwise be financially or geographically inaccessible.

A central part of our proposed model is establishing dedicated individual treatment-access fundraising campaigns, alongside a general unrestricted charitable fund.

Drawing inspiration from established children’s medical fundraising charities, we aim to develop a similar framework focused particularly on adults facing barriers to treatment.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and independent Chair of the Board of Trustees to help establish the foundation and provide strategic leadership during its formative years.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience establishing or growing a charity would be particularly valuable.

Independence and Governance

The founder has personal experience of barriers to accessing medical treatment and hopes to be considered for the foundation’s first individual beneficiary campaign, subject to legal review and independent approval.

The founder will not initially serve as a trustee or participate in decisions concerning their own treatment funding. The Chair and independent board will retain full authority over charitable decisions.

Time Commitment

We anticipate an initial commitment of approximately 4–8 hours per month, with additional involvement during the establishment and registration phase.

Meetings will primarily take place remotely, approximately every 4–6 weeks initially, moving towards quarterly meetings once established.
