The Role
ICAEW is seeking an independent Chair of the Regulatory and Conduct Appointments Committee (RACAC) to lead the committee responsible for appointing, developing, and evaluating the chairs and members of its regulatory and disciplinary committees.
Reporting to the ICAEW Regulation and Conduct Board, this role plays a critical part in maintaining the highest standards of governance, independence, accountability, and public trust within the organization's regulatory framework.

Key Responsibilities
Committee Leadership
- Chair the Regulatory and Conduct Appointments Committee (RACAC).
- Lead committee meetings and ensure effective governance and decision-making.
- Report to the ICAEW Regulation and Conduct Board.
Appointments & Oversight
- Oversee the appointment of chairs and members to ICAEW's regulatory and disciplinary committees.
- Support the development and evaluation of committee members.
- Promote effective succession planning and committee effectiveness.
Governance & Public Interest
- Ensure the highest standards of governance, independence, and accountability.
- Safeguard the integrity of ICAEW's regulatory and disciplinary processes.
- Contribute to maintaining public confidence in the accountancy profession.

Qualifications
- Significant board-level or senior committee leadership experience.
- Strong judgment, credibility, and leadership skills.
- Experience in governance, executive appointments, talent management, or organizational oversight.
- Experience within a regulated environment is advantageous.
- Must be an independent lay candidate.
- Must not be a member of the accountancy or legal professions, or have professional or commercial associations that could compromise independence.
Compensation
£12,000 per annum.
Time Commitment
- Approximately 15 days per year.
- Three-year fixed-term appointment.
