RJI is seeking a chair of trustees with experience to provide strategic leadership and ensure exemplary governance, guiding the charity to fulfil its mission with integrity and impact.

As Chair, you will play a vital role in helping us fulfil the charity's aims, meet regulatory requirements, and continue benefiting the communities we serve.
What are we looking for?
As a charity that focuses on the sexual & reproductive health (SRH) rights and experiences of people of colour (PoC) and other minoritised individuals, we are looking for trustees who have lived experience of discrimination.

What will you be doing?
This year, we're undertaking an organisational refresh through co-creation to help shape the next chapter, with minimum requirements of attending monthly meetings, quarterly board meetings, and a strategy day. For this reason, we are looking for applicants to commit to serving for at least 1 year and to a full-day (Saturday) strategy meeting in November, facilitated by an organisational health consultant.
As a trustee, your mandate will be to support the mission and vision by actively supporting fundraising efforts and exploring new fundraising avenues. However, you will lead trustee board meetings, support and supervise the chief executive, and act as a communication channel between the board and staff. Manage potential conflicts of interest to ensure integrity and appropriate transparency.

The Chair will monitor the organisation's progress against the strategic objectives, ensure the board governs itself well and creates a positive culture within the charity. Review board composition and ensure timely trustee recruitment and development. Act as an ambassador for the charity, representing its interests and values to stakeholders.
You will be expected to build a collaborative working relationship with staff, freelancers and volunteers, rooted in proactive communication and commit to conflict resolution principles. This is a unique opportunity to help to shape the future of our charity and make a lasting impact on the community we serve.
