What We’re Looking For
Leadership experience in a charity, public sector, education, health or organisational setting.
Strong governance understanding and confidence in chairing meetings.
Strategic thinking with the ability to see the bigger picture.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A commitment to equity, safeguarding, and ethical practice.
An interest in creative health, therapy, or community wellbeing (professional music-therapy experience is not required).
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and lived experiences. Prior trustee experience is helpful but not essential.

About Key Changes Music Therapy
Key Changes Music Therapy is a specialist charity providing clinical, evidence-based music therapy to children, young people and adults across Hampshire and the surrounding region.
Our qualified music therapists work in schools, hospitals, community settings and care environments, supporting people living with autism, learning disabilities, mental health challenges, neurological conditions, trauma, and communication difficulties.
We believe in the transformative power of music therapy to unlock expression, connection, and support wellbeing through specialist therapeutic relationships. Our work is grounded in the highest professional standards, strong safeguarding practice, and a commitment to reaching people who face the greatest barriers to therapeutic support.
Key Changes Music Therapy is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, overseen by a committed Board of Trustees who bring expertise in health, education, social care, finance, governance and the arts.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a new Chair of Trustees to lead our Board through an important period of development. This is a voluntary, non-executive role with strategic influence, supporting the charity to strengthen its impact, sustainability and reach.

The Chair will work closely with fellow trustees and our clinical lead to ensure Key Changes continues to deliver safe, high-quality music therapy and remains financially resilient, well-governed and mission-driven.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who is passionate about mental health, therapeutic services, or community wellbeing, and who wants to help shape the future of a respected local charity.
Key Responsibilities
- Board leadership — Chairing trustee meetings, enabling effective decision-making, and ensuring good governance.
- Strategic oversight — Supporting the development of organisational strategy, risk management and long-term planning.
- Support & challenge — Providing constructive guidance to the clinical lead and trustees, ensuring accountability and clarity.
- Ambassadorial role — Representing Key Changes externally, strengthening partnerships and championing the value of music therapy.
- Governance excellence — Ensuring compliance with Charity Commission and Companies House requirements.
- Inclusive leadership — Fostering a positive, collaborative and diverse board culture.
