Chair of Trustees for 75th Braid Scout Group
The Board of Trustees for 75th Braid Scout Group, a registered charity, is looking for its next Chair to lead on the governance matters of the group, ensuring the group remains well managed and follows charity rules. The group is located at Millar Hall, next to Cameron Toll Shopping Centre.
What difference will you make?
The Role of Chairperson will allow the group to continue to function as a charity and as a group within Braid District Scout Council. Your expertise in leadership will ensure a strong Trustee Board, effective and productive meetings as well as good communication between other groups and the District Team.
Good governance is a key factor to our continuing success as a Scout District. It enables our leadership teams to ensure that local scouting is complaint with the Scouts policies, organisation and rules; Scottish law, and OSCR regulations. Our Trustees, through their governance duties, support everyone providing exciting programmes and experiences for all our youth members.

What will you be doing?
The Chair of the trustee board leads the volunteer board to ensure the Scout group is run safely, legally, and effectively. There are three key areas to achieve this:

Leading Meetings and Strategy
- Run meetings: Plan agendas and lead trustee meetings as well as the Group Council's Annual General Meeting (AGM).
- Guide focus: Keep the board focused on strategy, performance, legal compliance, and proper governance.
- Track actions: Make sure decisions and agreed actions actually happen.
Supporting the Board and Volunteers
- Recruit trustees: Lead the search and bring in new members for the board.
- Support members: Welcome new trustees, organise inductions, and check in on how they are doing.
- Partner with leaders: Work closely with Lead Volunteers and other officers like the Treasurer.
Representation
- Act as ambassador: Represent the charity publicly and work with the wider Scouting leadership.
