Team GB Foundation (The British Olympic Foundation) Trustee
Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed
2-3 days per month | Four-year term
The Team GB Foundation is the charitable foundation of the British Olympic Association (BOA). Through the power of Team GB and the Olympic Movement, it exists to improve lives through sport and physical activity, creating meaningful social impact across communities throughout the UK.
As the Foundation enters its next chapter, I am looking an exceptional Chair to provide strategic leadership through the next Olympic cycle and help maximise the influence, reach and impact of Team GB beyond the field of play.
This is not a traditional charity Chair appointment.
I’m looking for a nationally respected leader with significant boardroom experience, a deep understanding of the sporting landscape, and the credibility to represent one of Britain's most recognised and admired sporting brands at the highest levels.
The opportunity
The Chair will lead the Foundation through the next four-year Olympic cycle, working closely with the Foundation Board, the British Olympic Association, senior stakeholders across sport, philanthropy and business, and the Foundation's executive leadership team.
You will serve as the senior ambassador for Team GB Foundation, helping to strengthen its influence, grow its impact, broaden its network of supporters and ensure it remains a leading force for positive social change through sport.
The successful candidate will be expected to challenge, support and guide strategically rather than manage operationally.

This role requires an individual capable of operating comfortably at board, government, commercial and sporting leadership level.
Particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate
Current or previous Chair-level experience
You will have chaired a charity, foundation, membership organisation, governing body or similarly complex organisation. Whilst non-executive director experience is valuable, I’m specifically seeking someone who has led a board and understands the responsibilities of the Chair role.
A significant track record within sport
You will possess a strong understanding of the UK sporting ecosystem and credibility within it. This could have been gained through leadership positions within elite sport, governing bodies, major sporting events, sports philanthropy, athlete representation, sports administration or related sectors.
Strategic leadership experience
You will have experience helping organisations navigate long-term strategic challenges and opportunities, ideally within organisations operating on multi-year planning horizons and involving multiple stakeholders.
High-level ambassadorial capability
The Chair will act as a public representative of Team GB Foundation. You must be comfortable engaging with senior leaders across sport, government, business, philanthropy, education, the media and charitable sectors.

You will possess a strong understanding of board governance, stakeholder management, risk oversight and organisational accountability.
Highly desirable
Direct experience of the Olympic and Paralympic landscape.
An understanding of how the Olympic ecosystem operates, including the unique opportunities and challenges presented by each Olympic cycle.
Charity and philanthropic leadership.
Experience supporting organisations with significant social impact ambitions, fundraising objectives or national charitable programmes.
Experience working with high-profile ambassadors, athletes, patrons or public figures.
A proven ability to leverage influential networks to drive organisational outcomes and increase impact.
Fundraising or philanthropic network access.
Connections within major donor, corporate partnership, sports philanthropy or charitable giving communities would be advantageous.
What success looks like
The next Chair will:
- Provide clear strategic leadership throughout the next Olympic cycle.
- Help strengthen the Foundation's profile, influence and long-term sustainability.
- Act as a trusted adviser and mentor to the Managing Director.
- Serve as a visible and credible ambassador for Team GB Foundation nationally.
- Enhance relationships across sport, government, education, philanthropy and business.
- Ensure the Foundation continues to deliver measurable social impact at scale.
- Foster a high-performing, well-governed and strategically focused Board.
