Cornwall Community Flood Forum (CCFF) Chair
Cornwall Community Flood Forum (CCFF) is seeking a new Chairperson to lead the charity into the future. CCFF is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and a community-led initiative committed to supporting those at risk of flooding in Cornwall.
We initially formed as a Members Association after widespread flooding in 2010, which affected over 300 properties across 15 different communities in Cornwall. From this event, communities came together and decided there needed to be a forum to share skills and knowledge about responding to flooding with others. We established ourselves as a CIO in 2016, Charity number: 1166604.
CCFF supports communities to prepare Community Flood Emergency Plans and provides advice before, during and after flooding. We deliver training and run live exercises to help volunteers to put their plans into action, working collaboratively with the Environment Agency and Cornwall Council’s Emergency Management and Environmental Resilience and Adaptation teams. We also help our communities to adapt to the challenges of flooding and coastal erosion. Start Date
As soon as possible. You will have the chance to job shadow our current Chair until December 2026, to give you an understanding about the role and its requirements.

Time commitment
Varied/ flexible. The chair will need to attend 4 (Quarterly) board meetings per year, one Annual General Meeting (AGM), and the CCFF Annual Conference. We estimate the time commitment to be a flexible 24 hours a month.
Location
Cornwall. Quarterly Board Meetings are generally held as hybrid meetings.
Main responsibilities
- Lead the Board of Trustees and officers in identifying key strategic decisions, including financial and funding decisions, to be made and delivered. Ensure all decisions are timely, well-founded and advance our values and charitable purpose as an organisation.
- Oversee and help to manage the work of the two full-time Community Engagement Officers, providing advice and support where needed.
- Monitor the progress of the Forum’s projects to ensure that the Forum reaches targets, deadlines and outcomes in line with contractual agreements and funding arrangements.
- Build an effective Board of Trustees. Support individuals with any learning, development or advice that may be needed, facilitate good relationships, and further our strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, health, safety and wellbeing.
- Chair Board meetings and ensure the provision and dissemination of relevant information to the Board of Trustees, partners and members.
- Maintain and develop collaborative working with partnership organisations such as the Environment Agency, the South West Regional Flood and Coastal Committee, Cornwall Council, South West Water, the University of Exeter and Town and Parish Councils.
- Be an ambassador for the Forum, seeking out emerging opportunities, funding, and new Trustees and Members.

This is an exciting time to join CCFF and take on this role. We have new projects on the horizon, likely to come into play just after March 2027. The Forum has grown considerably over the past few years, taking on more ambitious projects, increasing membership numbers and community awareness about the support we have available.
